In Act III, I think that the character that John Proctor is honorable. He is doing everything that he possibly can to prove that his wife is innocent. Even if that means that he will have to tell the court of his affair with Abigail to show them that she is lying. While telling the court about his evidence, he finds out that his wife has claimed that she is pregnant. When the court told him this, they said that his wife will be kept alive for at least one to two years to take care of the baby (Miller 259). He decides to deny the offer they give him so that his friends wife don’t die. In that moment he shows that he is not only thinking about himself.
