Prohibition Word Cloud
The prohibition era was a very important time in history. It began in the 1920’s and caused possibly one of the biggest political corruptions. The government, along with corporations like the anti-saloon league, wanted to ban alcohol. They believed that alcohol caused problem behavior, family issues, and was ruining the working force. In return, the government created the 18th amendment to ban the manufacturing, consumption, and sale of alcohol in the United States. However, alcohol was a normal way of life for many Americans. The ban on alcohol caused an uprising, and eventually the amendment was lifted.
I believe that the government has the right to determine personal choice to some extent. However, when it comes to issues like drinking, they often need to realize that banning personal choice can be nearly impossible.
